This is a post about The Oregon Redwood Trail outside of Brookings, OR. This is a post about how amazing this forest was. This is a post about the fog. The thick, low, beautiful fog. I’m going to let the photos do most of the talking, so I’m going to say this now: you need to go here as soon as possible.
A couple years ago, we spent a month on the south island of New Zealand. To this day, we get chills thinking about the amazing landscapes and scenery that we experienced while there. We’ve been told that the PNW coast is similar to that part of New Zealand, but I’ve been nothing short of skeptical. Don’t get me wrong, the PNW coast has been incredible! But the NZ South Island coast… man, it’s just something else.
So anyways, this hike on the Oregon Redwood Trial was the first thing that we’ve done that made me appreciate the PNW just as much as NZ. I have since found much peace in the beauty of the PNW coastal scenery and I’m grateful that this exists in the US since I can’t just jump on over to NZ whenever I want.
That wink! This kid cracks me up! The other morning at breakfast, I thought that he winked at me from across the kitchen, but when I asked him about it he didn’t know what I meant. This picture proves that he can and does wink!
These ferns were huge! Carter could easily walk under them.
And nursing while hiking because you do what you gotta do.
The fog made everything so dreamy and stunning!
So again, if you ever find yourself anywhere near Brookings, OR, you MUST go on the Oregon Redwood Trail hike. I repeat: YOU MUST GO!
