Last week we spontaneously drove to a nearby lake and spent several hours living in this perfect little snippet of life as the sun set.  Luckily we have some pretty spontaneous friends who like to join us on our last minute trips!  We had fun kayaking, letting the kids swim, and watching Scott catch a fish!  It brings me so much joy to see how comfortable and happy my kids are exploring and this evening at the lake really made my momma heart burst with pride.

Our friend was so good to put the two boys in his kayak with him and let them each have their own oar!  They absolutely loved paddling around and splashing each other.

Zellie and I went in the kayak for a bit at the beginning, but her happy place is anywhere she doesn’t have to wear a life jacket haha.  She really does like the kayak—especially when she leans over and puts her hand in the water—but she preferred to be on land this time just splashing in the water on her own terms and I was happy to be beside her practicing video with the camera.

He LOVES swimming!  So proud of him for jumping in and swimming around in the lake.  I, on the other hand, do not like swimming in bodies of water that have fish in them… Makes me cringe just thinking about it!  I’m glad this kid doesn’t seem to mind though.

And now for the video I made!!  Guys, I am so proud of myself.  I have been so afraid of doing video for the last several years because I had no idea what I was doing with it (I still don’t!) but I decided that because video is just so precious to us and the kids love rewatching them I was going to just do it.  It’s not the best video ever, and I’ll hopefully continue to learn more about video editing so I can get better at it as I go, but I love this one.  It gives me the warm fuzzies and floods back all the feelings from this evening on the lake!  I hope you enjoy!
