When we got to Westport we stopped at a beach with a short hike to a seal colony.  We made peanut butter and banana sandwiches for lunch, loaded Carter up in the carrier and started the hike.

The hike to the lookout was beautiful.  We were told beforehand that there probably wouldn’t be any seal pups so we weren’t expecting any, but, to our surprise, there were seal pups everywhere!!!  They were soooo cute and so tiny and you could hear them “talking” to each other between the waves crashing on the rocks.  I was going crazy over all the little ones.  They were just so cute!  (I do apologize, you can’t really see them in the pictures…)

Carter was more entertained by the metal bars than the seals…

Back by the carpark we found some Wekas (a wingless bird that I find very uninteresting, but Scott was enthralled by for some reason) and followed them to the beach where we taught Carter how to spell his name in the sand.
