Tonight we spent some time with the Wu family here in Kaohsiung, Taiwan. The Wu family consists of Brother and Sister Wu and their three kids, Sarah, Ammon, and Rebecca. This wasn’t just any normal get together though… The Wu family speaks very little English, and Scott and I don’t speak any Chinese so we knew it would be interesting! Luckily we had some missionaries from our church there who speak English and Chinese so they were able to translate for us.
The Wu’s fed us some AMAZING food while we got to know each other a little bit better and then we had a Family Home Evening lesson on learning about our heritage.
My favorite part of the whole evening was when Ammon and Carter started interacting. I left the room for a minute and when I came back, Ammon had taken my seat next to Scott on the couch. Scott got up and I sat down with Carter next to Ammon. Carter started smiling and talking to Ammon as soon as we sat down. Ammon was so cute to tickle Carter’s feet and arms and pat his cheeks, all the while Carter was giggling, talking, and grabbing at Ammon’s glasses.
Ammon found our camera part way through the evening and took several pictures of me, only one of which turned out half decent haha.
It was a great night getting to know the Wu family and sharing our story with them. We are so grateful to them for inviting us into their home and feeding us so well. We are also very grateful for the missionaries who translated the whole evening for us!
